Using the Lightbox To View Multiple prints at once

By far the most efficient way to use this tool is to FIRST place all the images you may be interested in previewing in the lightbox. For more information on using the lightbox features visit the lightbox help page.

Print Options

Please Note: your print will NOT contain a visible watermark as shown on the preview.

The print options section is where you would set sizes, etc for the actual print itself. When you first click on an image it will be shown with the optimized settings already in place. The tool will calculate the optimum print size based on image dimensions, orientation and ratio. If however you wish to make changes you can do so with the options listed below.

Print Options

Print Size: You can select from the dropdown list from any of the available print sizes. Only the print sizes which are suitable for the dimensions of the image are shown.

Below is a chart of comparative print sizes (roughly to scale). Note that, as best as possible you should attempt to match the aspect ratio (Width / Height) of the original to the correct print aspect ratio. Most professional digital images as listed on World of Stock tend to fall closer to the 3:2 aspect ratio.

A sampling of these sizes are shown below. Other sizes may be available.

Comparative prints sizes available

Matching the size of your print to available space.

Picking the right size of print has a lot to do with how much space you wish to take up on your wall, as this demonstration attempts to show. Remember to allow space for matting and framing over and above the actual print size. In this example we used approx 30% extra.

Cropping: Now, you have the ability to select exactly how you want your print to be croppped, by using the easy cropping tools provided. Whether or not the image needs to be cropped depends on the Aspect Ratio (width / height) of the original images versus the aspect ratio of the selected print size. See the examples below.

Image does not require cropping
This image does NOT require cropping as the aspect ratio of the selected print (16x24) matches the aspect ratio of the original image.
Image showing area to be cropped
Now we change the print size to 16x20 and the image requires cropping. It is wider than the allowable print area. You can change the cropping area by simply dragging the highlighted box and pressing 'Apply Crop'. If you wish to leave the cropping to us, just leave as is.

Cropping Tips

Notes about the Cropping Tool

Finish: In many cases there are four finishes available for your prints, all of which utilize archive quality materials. Here is an explanation of the four main finishes. We suggest you click on the 'Products' tab to view more information about all of the print based products we offer.

Glossy: Image will have well pronounced colors and a highly reflective finish. May not show well in direct light. Glossy prints are also very susceptible to fingerprints. Generally glossy is best suited to the smaller print size where you want to really bring out the details.

Matte: This has a very slight dimpled effect which tends to not reflect light nearly as much, and hides fingerprints fairly well, however the colors may see a bit more subdued. Black and white or sepia images may look best in this finish. We recommend matte or lustre finish for the larger print sizes.

Lustre: A premium, long life, professional quality paper (Kodak Professional Endura) with the color saturation of glossy and the fingerprint resistance of matte — without the glare associated with glossy. We recommend matte or lustre finish for the larger print sizes. Available in select sizes.

New! Metallic: Looking for prints that will absolutely jump off the wall? Metallic will do that. But don't take our word for it, see what Kodak has to say. Available in select sizes.

Color Effects: We are proud to now offer five different color effects to choose from. Please see the table below for examples.

image in full color Print in Black and White Sepia Tone Print
Color: No change to the original, other than slight color corrections or repairs as required. Black and White: We convert the image to full spectrum black and white tones for a true black and white look. Sepia Tone: From the black and white we add a brownish tinge, giving the photo an antique look.
image in desaturated color imagewith oil painting effect
Desturated: A retro, artisitc look is achieved by removing approximately half of the images color. Oil Paint: We carefully apply a digital effect which gives a result similar to a hand painted image.

PLEASE NOTE:

- Some of our images are already black and white or sepia toned and they cannot be changed back to color. Checking the black and white option will make sure they are printed in true black and white.
- The displayed image is a low resolution, web based approximation of what the final image will look like and may not be exact.
- Shipped print will NOT contain a watermark.

Borders

Optionally you can apply black or white borders in a number of different widths to your prints. Borders help to isolate the print from the frame without matting, or add an extra dimension to your matting. Make sure you choose your size of border to match the chosen image size. a 1/2" border is useful for allowing custom matting without covering any of the photo itself. Also note that the border does not extend the size of the print, the actual image will be shrunk to accomodate the border. For example a 16 x 20" print with a 1" border will contain an image of 14x18" inside the border.

Offset border: The print will have a 50% larger border on the bottom, effectively raising the image towards the top of the frame. Example, a 2" offset border will have 3" border on the bottom and 2" on the rest of the sides.
