Steve has been an avid fan of 'the visual arts' since his
teenage years when he purchased his first Agfamatic camera from the
Sears catalog with money he made from part time jobs. Having spent many
years as an avid photography buff, Steve made the switch to video
around 1992, where he ran a small video studio, up until late 2000,
when a career opportunity took him to Hong Kong for two years. After
spending many months travelling around Asia armed with a new camera,
the lure of digital brought Steve back to photography as his main
interest.
As 'Principal Partner', Steve founded World of Stock in 2003 and has been improving and growing it ever since. His background in high tech, in addition to his love of the graphic arts has cumulated in what you see here now, and there's more to come.....Steve is really enjoying the chance to work with such a creative and talented group of people as the photographers who contribute to this site.
Steve has been very fortunate to have traveled extensively throughout Asia, Europe the South Pacific and North America. He also writes and is a regular contributor to 'Digital Photographer' and other magazines and is available for commercial, event or editorial projects in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.
Steve's Favorite quote;
"I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free" - Michelangelo
"I see this as being so synonymous to photography" , says Steve. "There are hidden treasures in the most unlikely places if you have the vision to see them".

Rob
Neil is a contributing photographer and
writer for Pacific Wings Magazine, New Zealand’s leading
aviation publication. Rob’s background has been in law enforcement and
commercial aviation. Aviation photography has
always been his
speciality, but since making the move to all-digital equipment, he has
been enjoying the freedom offered by the digital format to experiment
with a wide range of subject matter. Living in the most beautiful
country in the world - New Zealand - gives him endless
opportunities for landscape and nature photography.
Until recently he shot almost exclusively with Fuji Velvia slide film but traded his Nikon F5 for a Nikon D100 with which he is still able to use his 24-85 AFS and 80-400VR lenses. Rob feels he has learnt more with the D100 than he did in all his previous time using film cameras as he can shoot whenever, wherever and for as long as he likes now he is no longer limited by the prohibitive cost of film and its processing.
Rob's Favorite quotes;
"In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is." - Jan L.A. van de Snepscheut (should that be “Snapshot”?)
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."
- Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931)

Ron
is a Canadian living with his wife in Hong Kong where he is
working as an airline pilot. He enjoys photography for many different reasons and would like to
develop his photography in all directions
including art and published works. "Photography
is unique in that the camera allows a photographer to look at a scene,
compose a shot and create a photograph which will
capture an image which relates to a small fraction of time. A
photograph or fraction of time can be captured and enjoyed for hours,
days, or years as art or as a moment in time", says Ron. As a photographer, he
does not like to edit his photos and prefers to
capture an image with natural light and in a natural setting. With that
said, At this time his photographic style is closest to
that of a documentary one.
He has been working with digital photography now for roughly 6 years, after getting into photography at a relatively young age of 11. In his late teens, Ron started working with a manual Nikon FE2 which was used up until roughly 1999 when he moved into the world of digital, with an Olympus C2100. Lately, his camera of choice is the Canon EOS 300D (or Digital Rebel), digital SLR. According to Ron, "With this camera I use the stock 18-55mm lens as well as a 90-300 telephoto. I also very much enjoy using a 15mm fisheye lens which offers many different 'artistic' choices when taking photos. I love digital photography as it allows me to learn and develop my style without breaking the bank with film developing and processing."
Ron's Favorite quote;
"Rule books are paper -- they will not cushion a sudden meeting of stone and metal."

Brian closed off the pre-digital era two years ago by
selling his dark-room equipment and analogue Canon 50E and purchasing a
Canon G2 and an
Apple Emac. Previously the occasional wedding shoot
and photo club outing allowed Brian to work his way through a few dozen
film rolls and then he put his camera away for a few months. How things
have changed! Hardly a week goes by without a few hundred photos being
taken, processed on the Mac and many made available on the Internet.
As one of the leaders of a large Christian youth group in Amsterdam, Brian records all the events and outreaches throughout Holland. Last year his photos were used on two occasions in a national TV guide and it is his ambition to extend his activities into product, wedding and events photography - all digital.
2004 will be used to hopefully earn enough money to purchase a Canon 10D and one or two good zoom lenses. Also on his wish list is a studio flash unit which is a necessity when shooting portraits. His business is called "The True Light" (http://www.thetruelight.nl) which interestingly enough, is based on a few things; his Christian beliefs, something every photographer strives for in their photos and 'TTL', an abbreviation known to all photographers.
Brian's Favorite quote;
"And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light.."

Nicola Clark took her
first photograph at the age of nine, with a Kodak Brownie of a jockey
mounting a horse; the shot was taken from behind. This was the
start of Nicola’s passion for photography and her individual
angles. Her interest developed from that day on and throughout
her teens, when she acquired her first Polaroid camera.
The Polaroid camera gave her the opportunity to retake a photograph if she was not entirely happy with the result, very similar to today’s digital technology. After a brief excursion into cinematography, she discovered that the still could say more than the film. In her late teens and early twenties, she read many books on the subject of photography and decided that formal training would take away her individuality.
Today, with the digital age, Nicola has the freedom to continue to learn and experiment with her photography.

"A moment in time frozen forever."

Psychiatrist by profession – Photographer by
passion, Manaan hails from Calcutta, India and is currently settled in
Oxford, UK. He started photography at the age of 19 when his mother
presented him with a Zenith K22 for a trek to Tapovan, Himalayas. Since
then he has come a long way. Last year, like many others he too has
gone digital with a Nikon D100. Wildlife is his specialty, but he also
likes shooting landscapes, architecture and dance recitals. To him
every photograph is a challenge, a challenge to immortalize a moment in
time, not just what the eyes see but also the unspoken emotion that
goes into the CLICK as the shutter falls. In his own words ‘In a world
full of chaos, photography is the recess of peace and sanity.
Thanks to his Dad, who was a keen photographer himself, he traveled the length and breadth of India. Medical School brought a new passion of trekking the mighty Himalayas. Unfortunately all good things must end, so did Medical School, and with that his trekking days. He still dreams that some day, somewhere, some how he will trek again with the same group of old friends who are now dispersed all over the world as busy medical practitioners. His recent trips include Nepal, Wales, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Egypt and Kenya. In his opinion Kenya is like a wildlife photographer’s dream come true. Photo opportunities are immense and the sheer thrill of seeing eye to eye with a wild lion or cheetah or leopard (of course through the lens) is a feeling that cannot be described in words. Other than photography he is also a keen web developer and along with his wife, runs a mental health portal site.

Marcelo will never forget the day when his Grandfather brought home a gift for him, a Cosina 135 SLR Camera. The little numbers on the lens and on the body of the machine seemed very complex but Marcelo thought he should give it a try. The camera broke shortly after Marcelo started to play with it but it gave Marcelo its first taste of what a camera could deliver. He was 10 years then and much has changed on his photography since then.
The possibility of capturing friends and family on a piece of paper fascinated Marcelo and he always had a camera with him during family trips and other special moments. He also enjoyed seeing old pictures of family members and always felt that the pictures gave him the sense that somehow he was part of the lives of those people even though some of them did no exist anymore.
Marcelo was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, however, 7 years ago he and his family traded the tropical beaches for snowy mountains and chose Calgary, Canada as home. Marcelo works as a Project Manager in the local telecom industry and aspires to become a full time professional photographer.
Marcelo started off in photography using film but, like many, has recently made the move to Digital. He has not looked back since then. He has been using a Canon 10D, digital SLR, quite successfully and one of his pictures was recently published by the British "Digital Photographer" Magazine. Marcelo is continually improving his craft and striving for perfection as has been evident in the images he has submitted recently to World of Stock.
Marcelo considers himself very fortunate for living in Alberta, Canada, a region considered by many as photographers paradise. The opportunities for wildlife and nature photography are just enormous. So many places and creatures to see and photograph. Even though Marcelo feels that wildlife photography is one of his strengths, he still prefers to work with people as he finds human expressions and the human body very intriguing.

Steffen has been fascinated by the
natural world around him since he was a child. Equipped with a manual
SLR camera and a bike, he would explore every corner in a 20 mile
radius around his home in northeastern Germany, shooting everything in
sight and bringing back his trophies - on film. However, he did not
realize the full potential of photography until he bought his first
tripod in 1994. Imagine, suddenly he started to get really sharp images!
From then on, things changed quite a bit. Steffen bought into the Canon EOS system and spent his savings on some serious equipment. He also started to get his first sales. At the age of 18, he decided that the time was ripe to explore the world, and off he went to Costa Rica and Panama for a photographic adventure of another dimension. Subsequent journeys took him all around Europe, to Nepal, India, East Africa, and back to Central America.
Realizing the heavy competition in the field of nature photography, which made the chances to turn his passion into a continues stream of income appear very remote, he settled for an alternative career instead and began studying ecology, zoology and botany at a German university. Through research projects he was able to continue traveling the world and acquire knowledge about the behavior and ecology of animals, significantly improving his abilities to capture them on film in their natural habitats. A few years ago Steffen and his wife moved to New York, where he still continues his education in a Ph.D. program on Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology. The current focus of his research is on behavioral aspects and stress physiology of African primates, which he studies every summer in several rainforests in East Africa.
Quoting Steffen "Photography for me is a way to express the beauty of nature in its simplest ways, to freeze moments in time that will never come back, and to use nature for composing artwork that can convey emotions better than any other medium. I try to avoid simply taking a picture; what I consider my best photographs are those in which I have succeeded to create a perfect reflection of what I perceived, not merely of what I saw. In my mind, this is what good photography is all about, and which is the most daunting of tasks that, unfortunately, I have note succeeded in very frequently yet."

Jorge's first two years in university, while studying
Architecture in UBA, where mixed with sleepy afternoons in the Fine
Arts School. But it came that he was not so good for oil painting, and
clay turned to be too sticky and cold in winter so fittinglly he got a
Canon Reflex as a gift and very quickly pastels and fine coal were
replaced by cheap BW film, and during the next 3 or 4 years, spent long
hours in the small darkroom he put together in his parent's attic.
As the years went by, he put together an architectural practice, where he was involved in many aspects of the trade from developing, designing, building, managing and marketing. Then, as almost by chance, in 1999 he re-entered photography. But this time he decided to do everything right, getting organized, studying and and working hard.
In every year since 1999 he has traveled at least twice. Each time carrying a bicycle and a backpack with two Canon EOS bodies, some lenses, two flashes and a round screen into it, and every time he returns with thousands of negatives that keep him occupied for the next 5 months, and so on. Instead of tumbling in the darkroom, Jorge has discovered how to process the photos on his Mac, while his small daughter colors with crayons by his side.
His photos have been entered into many competitions, in Argentina and abroad, with very good results: In 2002 Jorge won the National Competition Ranking. He's done several personal expositions, and right now his work is displayed in the National Museum in Rafaela, in Interphot 2003, San Benedetto del Tronto, Italia, and the World Photo Fotoforum, Luxembourg. In Jan 04 he was invited by Agfa as Professional of the month for the Agfa world page (www.agfanet.com), and Agfa has also organized a personal exhibition for May 04.
We, at World of Stock are very happy and honored to have a photographer of Jorge's caliber contributing to our growing talent pool.

Reimar was born in Germany and grew up in Ottawa, Canada.
At university in Ottawa he was hit hard by the photography bug,
developing his color prints in the university photo club darkrooms. A
career as a scientist got in the way of photography and brought him to
Toronto where he is now settled with a family. But the recent digital
revolution has rekindled in him a passion for photography.
"I have always loved photography. Not so much for snapshots, but the discipline of looking at the world with new eyes. For me, photography is a celebration of light and life. It isn’t a destination, but an ongoing journey. To capture parts of God’s beautiful creation that tend to fly by so quickly. Photography makes me want to explore, to look around the corner, to look again at the ordinary, to climb a mountain. As a result it gives me a better appreciation of the world."
Even though he started digital photography with a compact Nikon Coolpix, he almost always uses either a monopod or tripod. "I find it helps me to compose a picture better, especially in awkward positions and it helps to maintain a composition while waiting for the perfect moment. Even at reasonable shutter speeds, it is insurance for sharper pictures." He continues this practice with the Nikon D70. He shoots everything in Nikon’s RAW mode. "This camera, and the ability to make camera setting adjustments back home on the computer, are wonderful advances."
He continues to sell framed and unframed prints of his images, but these tend to be the "wall-hangers" that have general appeal. Stock photography provides inspiration for a considerably broader range of images that he enjoys taking. "I think my photographic work and World Of Stock are a great fit. This site is young and rapidly expanding, with a developer who is always working hard for improvements to an already excellent site. I have great hopes for the future."

Ellen Isaacs grew up in New York in a family that forgot to put film
in the camera and took snapshots of people with poles coming out of
their heads. While in grad school, a friend gave her a fully manual SLR
and she went on to make a whole new set of mistakes until she finally
figured out how to use a camera.
While working as a software designer in California, she spent all her
vacations visiting countries around the world and took her camera
everywhere. Eventually, the trips became centered around photography.
"By then, my husband had gotten used to the idea of having
dinner at odd hours so we could be at visually interesting places at
magic hour." Back home, she obsessed over her images in Photoshop and
experimented with digital photo design.
In 2002 when she was laid off, she decided to pursue photography full
time. She got a digital SLR and began selling her images at local art
& wine festivals and as greeting cards online. She sold her first
stock image and showed her shrewd business sense by charging the client
less than what they offered. In 2003, she spent 4 glorious months at
the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula, Montana, living
and breathing photography. She especially loved the studio work and
digital imaging. "In the Digital Intensive class, I spent 5
weeks, 8 hours a day in the basement digital photo lab and still
couldn't get enough!"
RMSP selected several of Ellen’s images to advertise their digital and
traditional program in their 2004 catalogue and on their website.
Now living near Santa Cruz, California, Ellen has been doing photo
retouching and restoration, selling her images as cards in local shops,
and displaying her images at gallery shows. She started contributing to
World of Stock in June and has been especially active in creating
custom photos when requested by clients. "I was so happy to
discover World of Stock because it gave me a reason to take photos of a
wider range of subjects. I especially like taking photos requested by a
client and then working on them in Photoshop to create the image they
need. It's the perfect job for me, combining photography with computer
design work."

Keith Levit first picked up a second-hand camera twenty-five years
ago. Since then he has pursued a unique and creative vision merging his
own concepts of photography and art, while working in both the
black-and-white and colour mediums. Although based in Winnipeg, many of
Keith's images have been created during his extensive travels
throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North & South
America. His passion for photography and love of travel and adventure,
coupled with his honest affection for people, work to create images
that capture the heart and soul of some of the world's most remote and
inaccessible regions and the people who inhabit them. Keith transcends
the medium of travel-photojournalism capturing the mystical beauty,
harmony, and hardships of the inhabitants of these lands.

In addition to his travel photography, Keith has also worked extensively with architectural images. His focus on Winnipeg's heritage buildings is widely recognized and respected. On permanent display at the Winnipeg International Airport, International Arrival Lounge, is an exhibit of Keith's work that explores classic architecture within Winnipeg and captures the legacy of our great buildings. Ellis Martin entered the world of photographic imaging very recently compared to the other creative aspects of his life. Originally from New Windsor, New York, Ellis began his artistic endeavors as an accomplished musician playing the oboe, keyboards, guitars, harmonica and percussion instruments. At the age of 15 he began a career in radio broadcasting that has lasted almost 35 years. In 1974 at 19 he ran his first radio station after migrating to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he lived for the next 17 years fully experiencing the nuances of the desert southwest and the southern Rockies, a completely different environment than the densely wooded Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York.
His creative muse took him through the world of theatre arts studying at the University of New Mexico. Ellis was one of the founding members of the New Mexico Film Industry Coalition and the Southwest Playwrights Laboratory and lobbied successfully on behalf of the Screen Actors Guild in the state of New Mexico. He has written and/or created a play and several screenplays.
For an acting role, he studied the works of both Georgia O'Keefe and her husband Alfred Stieglitz which led him to experiment with abstract art and oil painting…painting from the unconscious, in a Jungian fashion. A friend purchased a manual Nikon FM10 and gave it to Ellis as a gift in 1999. After a very short while, Ellis discovered that he had a natural gift for the art with a very keen eye toward shape, style and form with an emphasis on the candid, intimate, detail oriented photography. His subjects are the female form, flora, landscapes, faces, hands, and detail photos of classic cars focusing on the lines, the form of his subjects…the artful creations of both God and man. He’s been fortunate in having sold many prints worldwide and stock photography images during his brief career. His photos have been published in London and the US. He currently has large archives of classic cars, abstract nudes and flowers. On many weekends Ellis can be found shooting fast action sports photography.
Ellis has shown his work in California, New York and Paris and likes to donate some of his work to charity. He now uses EOS Canon digital and film bodies and lenses exclusively, having handed off the manual Nikon a few years back. The camera allows him to focus almost entirely on the art of composition allowing the subconscious to present itself through his eye and the lens. Ellis has called Los Angeles his home since 1991, now residing in Beverly Hills where he's involved in opening the first classic car art gallery in the city.
In Ellis' own words "I'm very grateful to World of Stock for allowing me such a fine venue for my images to be both showcased and purchased..Thank you!!"

Alex began photography in 1998 as hobby, but immediately fell in love with this exciting art form. Today, his higher pleasure is to photography the beautiful landscapes that he captures along many of his travels during the year. combining the pleasure of travel with his absolute passion for photography. Along the way, Alex has collected remarkable and inspirational images from around this fantastic and unique country called he calls home.
Since the beginning has used exclusively Nikon® equipment for the camera body and in particular the lenses due to the excellent quality they deliver. Today, even though he primarily uses digital equipment, he will still fall back on the use of traditional film equipment for those occasions of "magical light" where he perceives that the digital sensor is still is not able to satisfactorily capture the moment quite as well as the traditional film.

Max's photographic career was a natural progression from his understanding of the ocean and his love of adventure sports.
In the late 80's and early 90's he was a professional lifeguard on the beaches of West Cornwall working and surfing throughout the summer months.
Inevitably as each September drew to an end the desire to stay warm became ever important, the sun and the thought of warm waters with perfect waves took him to various locations around the world.
He started to photograph windsurfing from the ocean with a Nikonos water camera. A local sail maker sent him to the Canary Islands, a chance meeting with a top class international wave sailor took him to the Hawaiian Islands and a career was born.
As his pictures were published around the world, other opportunities developed. A meeting here, a coffee there, a degree of luck and here he is today - Formula 1, Motor sport and Feature cars complementing his established Adventure Sports and Travel images.
Clients include - Unity Media plc - Emap Active - Sunday Times - Crystal Holidays - Rutherford Aspel & May - Chris Neale Design - The Princes Trust - Oshea International - Lodey Sails - Bainbridge International and an extensive variety of European, Australian and American magazines.

A self-taught photographer with years of
experience in traditional film photography, Singapore resident Howie is
equally at ease with the latest digital imaging technology. In fact,
digital photography accounts for most of his recent works. An avid
windsurfer himself, it is only natural that he combines his lifelong
passions of photography and windsurfing together. Not content to just
shoot single shots of windsurfing and other fast-action sports,
with the help of the recent digital revolution and the power of
computer, he started to incorporate Sports photography with
Panorama. By joining every individual frame captured by digital SRL,
into one panoramic photo, Howie came up with Panoramic Action
Sequence shots, or what he terms "On the Move" photos. It shows the
whole maneuver in one stunning panoramic photograph in high resolution,
capable of large size print output. Some of these works have appeared
in publications like Asian Photography, PHOTOi and Sportmag.
Howie also has gather a great library of shots from various locations throughout Southeast Asia and other locations.
Says Howie " I am very grateful to WOS for providing this opportunity to showcase and sell my work with an international reach. The professionalism of the staff at WOS must be highly commented. They have made the whole process of uploading, updating and selling of stock photos an exceptionally efficient one. "

Anthony was born in Belgium from a Turkish mother and from
a father of Italian origin, Anthony has always lived in a multicultural
environment and today has covered more than 60 countries over four
continents. His passion for photography began very early. At 7 years
old, he was already developing his black and white work in a lab. Over
the next years, he was given the opportunity to travel on several
occasions with his cousin - a professional Italian photographer - as
his personal assistant. Today, he loves to catch eyes and smiles from
all over the world through portrait photography. His famous expositions
of "Colors and Scents" and his vivid work have been exposed in several
continents. Lately, he has done several report photography in Latin
America, Yemen and Africa and won several International Prices.
He founded Art in All of Us (www.artinallofus.org) and is now fully dedicated to accomplish the mission of this ambitious initiative. The mission of Art in All of Us is to promote creatively cultural exchange throughout the UN listed countries, using universal art elements as photography and poetry. The construction of a better and fair world needs to go through the education of the less advantaged person. Therefore, they decided to focus this project on children, since in most countries they are only considered as half a person, and do not benefit from the right to express themselves. One of the aims of Art in All of Us is creating a world book of photography and poetry, presenting each one of the 191-UN listed countries through a unique photo portrait, and a small poetry written by a local child. Today they have gathered information of up to 60 countries and Art in All of Us is sponsored by the UNICEF. A part of the proceeds from the sales of this book will contribute to raise funds to NGOs focused on education and children.

Ian's interest in photography began at an early age. His upbringing spanned several countries from South Africa to Canada, inspiring his interests in people and cultures.
So focused on his ambitions, by the age of 16, Ian had secured himself a position as an assistant to various photographers based in Toronto. The natural progression of which led him into a two year apprenticeship as head assistant to world renowned photographer, Greg Dean.
The years that followed provided Ian with in-depth knowledge of different cameras, lighting, portraiture & digital design; the background necessary for any high end digital free lance photographer.
Ian has spent over 6 years traveling through Asia, the Middle East and Europe and now has an extremely diverse portfolio of worldwide cultures.
Located solely in India for the last 2 years, Ian has been capturing images of rural life and the people of Southern India. In 2006 Ian plans to relocate to Europe, based in London or Copenhagen, to further expand his photography business that will include fashion, people, event and stock photography.
In 2005 Ian received 3 honorable mentions at the Photographer of the Year Competition www.photoawards.com also known as the Lucy Awards; For his work with the Lambadi Tribal Caste (Indian Nomadics), in the Hindu System of India. Peter Marshall was born in Northern Ireland and came to
Canada as a young child. He now resides in Ottawa when he's not on the
road. Peter is an avid photographer and has been making photographs
since the late 1960s when he inherited his father's Argus 35mm
rangefinder. His photographic interests include landscape,
architecture, form, colour and environmental portraiture. He and his
wife's love of travel has both informed and enriched his portfolio
through the years. The purchase of a digital camera in 2000 and a
membership in Ottawa's RA Photo Club fueled a renewed vigor in his
photographic career as his wet darkroom was transformed into a digital
darkroom for the new century. A nephew has taken on one of his old
Nikon film bodies as he pursues an interest in photography at Algonquin
college.
In the summer of 2005, Peter held a well reviewed solo exhibit "Irish Moments" at the National Press Club across from Parliament in Ottawa. He's also exhibited prints in the permanent exhibit in the entrance lobby of Ottawa's RA Centre. Peter Marshall's photographs have been published in a number of magazines and trade publications including Canadian Camera Magazine, McGill Daily and KMDiary. Fine art prints of his are on display at the Hopetown Museum in the Bahamas and are included in a numerous private collections.
Seeing photography as his next career stop, Peter formally established Marshall Ikonography in 2004 to market and sell both stock photographs and fine art prints. Currently however, most of the marketing is done by external agencies like World of Stock while he concentrates on what he loves: capturing the image. Peter Marshall also serves as the Director of Network Applications with CANARIE Inc, a not-for-profit organization that manages Canada's next-generation research and education computer network.

Daria’s love of photography started at the age of five when
she carefully composed photos of her big wheel and ants. Eventually
moving on to photograph vertebrates, more specifically - her many pets,
her love of photography blossomed. Spending hours working in the
darkroom was a favorite pastime. After a decade pursuing a career in
science (working with the second love of her life, insects) she heeded
her true calling and returned to photography. While she has stepped out
of the darkroom into the digital age, her love of photography hasn’t
changed. Daria currently owns her own business in Missoula, Montana
photographing other people’s pets. Occasionally, humans, beautiful
landscapes, and random items also enter her viewfinder. Daria is happy
to be part of the World of Stock team.

Oleksiy started his career as a graphics designer and very soon switched to 3D graphics. He'd been working as a Lead 3D game artist for a few years when he decided to buy a DSLR camera and started his career again, this time as a photographer. Now he still works as a freelance 3D artist but spends much more time with his camera and Photoshop than with anything else. According to Oleksiy "I think that in photography I've finally found my place in life." The most interesting subjects for Oleksiy are glamour, beauty, fine-art nude, conceptual and still life photography and 3D graphics, but you will see in his portfolio photos of almost every subject. Originally from Ukraine, Oleksiy resides in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Carrie is a freelance photographer located outside of New Orleans, Louisiana. She has always been interested in photography, but it wasn’t until the digital era that she began to explore and experiment in depth. Her love of photography intensified. She was a contributor to the ‘America 24/7’ project and was published in the ‘Louisiana 24/7’ volume.
Carrie says "I like to try and capture the simple, natural beauty of people and things. When you look close enough, you can find beauty in everything. I especially like the power and elegance of black and white photography. It is simpler, yet it can be absolutely stunning." Carrie also loves to photograph the unique and beautiful city of New Orleans.
“I am grateful and honored to be part of the World of Stock team. I have learned a lot and I have a lot to learn.”
Favorite quote: “My deeply held belief is that if a god of anything like the traditional sort exists, our curiosity and intelligence is provided by such a god. We would be unappreciative of that gift ... if we suppressed our passion to explore the universe and ourselves.” -Carl Sagan

Howie
Garber
Howie is a
professional landscape, wildlife and adventure sports photographer. He
has lived in Salt Lake City, Utah for over 30 years. He has won
national and international awards for his work. Howie’s interest in
photography dates to 1969 when he took a “History of Photography” class
while at the University of Rochester. He remained an amateur for many
years. In 1990 he traveled to Nepal, his first trip outside the U.S.
and shot 40 rolls of film while trekking for a month. This convinced
him to spend more time with his cameras. While traveling in South
America during 1991, his wanderlust was rewarded with an incredible
stroke of luck. On his birthday, he was picked up while hitch-hiking by
a Brazilian biologist who was doing jaguar research. Experiencing the
wonder of observing wildlife in natural habitats was an incentive to
improve his photography skills. Since then he has traveled and
photographed extensively in places like Peru, Antarctica, Brazil,
China, Kenya, England, Alaska, Australia and Switzerland.
Howie’s images have been published as book, magazine, and video covers;
and in calendars, screen savers and greeting cards. Some of his recent
clients include Newsweek, National Geographic, Patagonia, Anheuser
Busch, the Sierra Club, National Audubon Society, Greenpeace, and
ColdWater Creek. In 1997, he received a prestigious award from the
British Broadcasting Corporation. Howie won the Wild Places (Landscape)
category of the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year contest. That
same year, his photo of two mountain goats won the Endangered Places
photo contest sponsored by Outdoor Photographer Magazine, Mamiya and
Lowepro. During the summer of 2000, his work was featured in Nikon
World. His work has been exhibited at the Smithsonian Museum and the
Museum of Natural History in London. In 2004, his image of a caiman won
the Animals in their Environment Category of the BBC contest. His
National photo awards have been from Nature’s Best Magazine and
National Wildlife Magazine.
Since 1983, Garber has worked as an Emergency Physician at small and
large hospitals all over Western U.S. and Alaska.According to Howie "I
find that there are many similarities in my two professions. Every day
as an outdoor photographer is different and often full of surprises.
Your success depends on multiple factors-weather, planning, animal
behavior and luck. In the hospital and in the field, you must accept
that many factors are out of your control. In the same way that
providing good health care is a team approach, my success as a
photographer has likewise been dependent on a team of wildlife
biologists, gifted athletes, pilots, river guides and others who have
contributed to my success. One of the challenges that remains is how to
use my photography as a tool for conservation. Artistically capturing
pure beauty seems hedonistic and socially irresponsible at times. It is
important to document what we are trying to save as well as what we are
destroying at a fast pace." Howie shoots 35mm, medium format, panoramic
film cameras and digital.

Mihaela Ninic
Born
in Germany, but grew up in former Yugoslavia, now Bosnia &
Herzegovina. In school she was always interested in fine art and
photography, but never had a chance to do anything about it, because
there were no proper schools for arts or photography. In 1991, when war
broke out, she left the country as a refugee, and found herself living
in Berlin for the next several years. In 1997 Mihael returned to Bosnia
& Herzegovina, doing different kind of jobs, always keeping
photography as a hobby. In 2004 she discovered the wonderful world of
stock photography, and since then has turned photography into a
profession.
According to Mihaela "It was a very difficult start,
especially living in a country like Bosnia & Herzegovina, but I
guess doing what I love and being very persistent has brought me some
success.
I feel very passionate about my job, and it gives me the freedom to
show my creativity in many different ways. And there are no boundaries,
which is very important to me. Most of all I like photographing people,
different ages and backgrounds, but I can find inspiration all around
me. I always try to learn new things, and always want to improve my
self to be able to compete in this very competitive business."

Reinfried Marass

Reinfried
Marass was born in Vienna, Austria. After his graduation as mechanical
engineer at age of 18 he went on a trip to Egypt and Sudan and was so
inspired he started photography immediately upon his return. He chose a
professional Contax-body, and some month later was well equipped with
lenses ranging from 18 to 1200 mm.
In the subsequent years his career distracted him from photography.
Reinfried says "At the end of the 90's I got my hands on a digital cam
for the first time, and after tooking the first few images I knew
analog photography was gone. Approximately 4 years ago I decided for
myself that digital quality is now equal and I started to pick up
photography again as a semi-pro. It took me approx. 3 years and 4
cam-bodies to adapt me to digital photography. 2 years ago Nikon
suggested me to go full-pro, and sometimes I do listen to others."
Now Reinfired is a freelancer doing photography on assignment, selling
pictures to magazines, doing fine art prints and some stock
photography. In addition he often joins international photo contests
just for fun and to challenge himself. His photographic portfolio is
very diverse, however he has his favorites. "My career as an engineer
always kept me in contact with exotic cars and classic cars. Due to
very close contact with dealers, owners, collectors, etc. the classic
car photography is a bit a niche I'm now specializing in."
Reinfried is influenced by the german 'Bauhaus School', so image
composition is very important. Recently he's also been working on a
book about camera composition that can be used as a quick reference
guide for beginners.
